Apple Hardware Thunderbolt Connections

Connecting Apple Thunderbolt Display (2011-2016) to Thunderbolt 3 Devices.

An Apple Thunderbolt Display (a 27-inch flat panel computer monitor developed by Apple and sold from July 2011 to June 2016) and can be connected to Mac computers with Thunderbolt 3 such as Macbooks in 2026. The display uses an older Thunderbolt 2 and using an adapter, can connect to Apple Thunderbolt 3 (USB C) such as an Apple laptop.

The adapter is called the Thunderbolt 3 (USB C) to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter. It allows connections to the Thunderbolt 3 device as a dock and monitor. Note, Thunderbolt 2 is not just display and will not connect properly as just a display to other USB C enabled personal computers.
