Adding Content Controls to a Microsoft Word Template

  • Enable Developer in Microsoft Word
    • In Word, activate the Developer Tab: (File > Options > Customize Ribbon)
    • Select Developer and Ok
  • Insert Content Controls in Word Document
    • In Developer Tab, click “Design Mode”
    • Use the Controls group in the developer tab to insert different controls
      • For example Plain text for text based controls

Populating the Microsoft Word Template with Power Automate

  • Use Power Automate flow to populate Word template content controls
  • To put data in the controls, use the “Populate a Microsoft Word template” action
    • Select the document from its storage
    • Use dynamic content to populate the content controls
