Use two strips of the floor

Make sure to ask them to “Show me you’re ready” before each exercise — they’re ready when they are in a single file line with ballet arms at their sides.

Exercise Details
Running (5x) Have them high five you every time they run down the first strip
Running with knees up
Running and kicking bum
Frog hops
Long jumps
Bunny hops
One foot hopping Hop on first foot on the way there, and on the second foot on the way back
Marching One hand to their ear, one hand to their hip as they march. The elbow in front should be the opposite of the knee up. After marching down the first strip, they run back to the beginning.
Front kicks After front kicks down the first strip, they run back to the beginning

They may take a drink after this and expected to come back to the floor and put their nose on the line.

Similar to a kinder stretch

Make sure to include pike sit with toes pointed, flexed and arched — 20 seconds each

Run your hand under their heels for pointed and flexed to see if it will fit.

If you notice them doing something particularly well, you can reward them with an extra stamp. They’ll work really hard for this, so if you find they’re being sloppy, remind them you’re looking to give out extra stamps.

Have them sit in pike while you’re giving instructions and setting up.

  1. Circuit (10-15 minutes)

  2. Stations — two people per station (5-10 minutes)

Hold releve (tip toes) on the low beam (30 seconds)

Shoulders should be back, stomach should be tight, knees should be straight

  1. Circuit — low beams (10 minutes)

    Activity
    Bear walking with straight knees
    Backwards tip toe walking, sliding feet along the edge
    Handstands with a beam pad (with spot)
  2. Circuit — high beams (10 minutes)

    Activity
    Dismounts (stuck): Straight, Star, Straddle, Pike
    Handstand walking with feet along the GymNova beam

    While they’re waiting to do their dismounts, you can put down the pink baby beam for them to sit on.

  1. Circuit (15 minutes)

    Setup Skill
    Blue block + blue crash mat Handstand, fall to back
    Long grey beatboard + blue block (halfway up the back of the beatboard) + orange square mat Step off the block, arm circle, jump on beatboard, land on mat with arms up
    Tumbl trak Spider hops

    If you need to use the floor rather than vault, you can replace this with running long jump — have them jump onto the small red mat.

  1. Conditioning (5 minutes)

    Split them up so that two kids are on the single wooden bar, one on each of the yellow bars, and two on the low bar.

  2. Stations — two people per station (15 minutes)

“Reindeer Game”

  • Put a block in the middle of two strips on the floor
  • One person is It, they count to 10 before chasing everyone around the block in one direction
  • When someone is caught, they sit on the block
  • Whoever is caught last can be It next
  • Have them line up on the pink floor and present to you individually
    • Feet together, tummy tight, shoulders down and back, chin up
  • After they present, you can give them their stamps
  • When you give extra stamps, ask them to tell you why they are getting an extra stamp
